Ok, I realize that the new girls who work at the tanning place perform at a level of genius I can only dream of-- but, seriously, HOW HARD IS IT? How hard is it to set the tanning bed for however many minutes I ask you to? This is your only job! A few days ago, I went to TLC and asked to go in the Super bed for 20 minutes (like I do EVERY time).  I get in the room, get all naked and lotioned up, and THEN realize that the idiot girl, whose job it is to set the bed, has only set it for 10 minutes.  So, my choices are to yell through the door at her to reset it or get all dressed again and go out there and say something.  So, I called her from inside the room.  I get on my cellphone and try to explain to her that I'm inside the tanning bed and it's only set for 10 minutes.  She says she'll reset it for 20.  I hang up.  A couple minutes later it's still flashing 10:00.  So I silently curse her while getting dressed to go ask her AGAIN to reset it for 20 minutes.  I get out there as she is saying, "oh, did it not set? sorry." I don't think you're sorry enough. So I finally get to tan. I've been going to this particular tanning salon for almost 5 years now and the people who work there know me when I walk in-- I know when they have to ask my name, that I'm going to have problems... [this is kinda like not having to order at the Waffle House anymore-- we walk in, food appears within minutes] So, TODAY, I call ahead to make sure the super bed is available.  I get there and, sure enough, there's someone in the super bed already.  Geniuses.  So I have to go in the stand-up bed.  She tells me, it's already set, go ahead.  I get in there, get all naked and lotioned up, and push the button to start the bed-- nothing happens. So this time, I considered just yelling at the girl thru the wall, but my manners got the best of me.  Instead, I got all dressed and went outside and rudely asked her to start my bed.  So I tan.  I get done and am walking out, when the girl stops me, apologizes, and starts to chat with me.  Apparently, she thinks that since she's an idiot and I was victim to it, that we should be friends now. In the few minutes following this I learned more about this girl than I know about people I've worked with for a year. She is originally from Oklahoma, has a bachelors' degree in Mass Communications and a Masters' in Higher Ed, was a GA in Womens' Athletics, her husband is in the Air Force and is stationed in Korea, she works for Pre-College programs at the University, has a brother who is a Network Engineer for Walmart and works at the home office in Bentonville, and today was her 4th day working at Tan W TLC.  This is twice in one week I've had unnecessary drama at the tanning salon.  Ridicurous.

Apparently, there's a new big-plastic-costume-jewelry-for-men fashion that I was not aware of. This boy was sitting at the table over from us at Powerhouse.  It's a little over the top...

So we went out for Jenni's birthday. Keith waited on us at Powerhouse, where we stuffed ourselves silly... he is an excellent waiter.  THEN, we went to On the Rocks to hang out.  We were 2 of about 12 people on the roof for an hour or so, and then every student remaining in Fayetteville for the summer joined us, making it more than a little crowded. Among these people, however, was "The Cabot Club". Jeffrey, Kenny, Joey, David, Jana, etc... and Aaron Randolph!! who just got home from Greece! It was fun to see everyone and catch up a little.

Yesterday was Jenni's birthday so we're going out tonight.  The only plans we really have are to go see Keith at Powerhouse.  I think this is his second night waiting tables-- he promises to take good care of us.  

I am sunburned because Beth and I laid out at the pool all day yesterday-- I hate being sunburned. I am only burned on my right shoulder, however, which is originally because of my sunroof... the laying out yesterday just aggravated it.  Despite the sunburn, it was a nice, lazy day of being hungover before I had to go back to work.

Back to the Future was on TBS today. And the ladies at the nail salon this morning were blasting a really great '80s radio station.

I mentioned my new favorite drink in my last post, but neglected to tell you about the rest of the evening. Diageo-- a liquor company that owns such labels as Smirnoff, Crown Royal, Jose Cuervo, Captain Morgan's, Tanqueray, and Bailey's-- had a launch party at Cool Water for a new product--  Captain Morgan's Tattoo.  It's being marketed to compete with Jagermeister-- though it tastes much better, in my opinion.  Basically, these people threw a big party, invited every local distributor of alcohol and went through a couple cases of this new rum.  I was bartending for this little shindig, which was way fun.  We also had all their other products available at the bar, but most people drank the Tattoo or Private Stock-- and there was a select group that was all about the Don Julio Reposado.

If only my job were to travel the area "promoting" my product by throwing parties for local liquor distributors... it just doesn't seem fair.

I saw one of my favorite people in the world today. Patrick Wilson, who I have known since forever and was close friends with in high school, dropped by Cool Water today.  It was so good to see him.  We will always have that "no-longer-in-the-clique" thing to bond us.  He's doing well and it was good to catch up with him and to know that I'm not the only Cabot High School, Class of 2000 Outstanding Senior that has yet to obtain a Bachelors' Degree.

Not much else going on. I have been working an extra lot this week so I have been doing little else in between-- gots to pay the bills, right... Jenni's birthday is Friday, so I'm trying to get off work to go out with her.  If any of you get bored/thirsty, you should come see me at work.  I love visitors. 

I have discovered a new favorite drink which I highly recommend-- Captain Morgan's Private Stock.

Tom and Erica were here Thursday night, which was fun.  We ran into all kinds of Cabot people on Dickson and at CW-- Tom didn't believe me that they're EVERYWHERE in NWA. 

It's late and I'm working another double tomorrow-- night.

Congratulations Tom! I got back Sunday from 5 days on "vacation".  I got to see Tom graduate from West Point and I got to see a bunch of family that I don't get to see often.  It was SO much fun-- but very exhausting.  I'm still recovering... I know what everyone really wants to see are pictures, so here ya go. (Unfortunately, I am still in denial of the 21st century and digital cameras so these pictures were taken with a disposable camera.)
